Add your camera - Detailed step by step
By sharing a camera on this web site you agree to our Terms and you confirm you have a legitimate and authorized access to the camera and that you are not braking country laws about privacy. Same conditions apply for using the embedding codes.
Get Started:
-It is not possible to describe how to configure each camera in details. It is assumed that you know how to access your camera and operate through its interface.
-First you want to make sure your camera can be reached via the Internet. Unless you have a fixed IP address from your Internet Service Provider, you need to use a DynDns service.
Some camera manufacturers, offer this service via a simple registration directly from the cameras interface menu (follow their instructions).
If your camera does not support this, you can then set-up the DynDns hostname update on your modem/router (most modern ones support DynDns service)
Once you got your camera connected and reachable via the Internet, you just have to register the camera on StreamBy.com.
Get yourself a user account, via the simple form. You will then be able to log-in and access your Control Panel.
From the Control Panel you can select ‘Add a camera’ and fill in the requested camera details. If you wish to remain publicly listed on StreamBy, it is recommended to geo-code your camera location, for it to appear on the global map. It also advised to fill in a description for the camera; the more complete that is, the more likely it is for your camera to be found by search engines.
Descriptive details
*Title : try to use a meaningful name. No symbols accepted, except dashes
Camera Description : not mandatory, but recommended. Increase interest and it is a search-able field.
Address: if you wish to state a precise address do it here. It can also be use to geo-code your location if you choose so.
*Category: it is necessary to select one. Select the correct one or choose test if this is the case. A category change has to be requested via the contact form.
City, State/Province, Postcode, Country : fill this in if you want and use it to geo-code. You can also geo-code by address without specifying it here. Just leave it empty and select “Place marker on the map”, you will be asked for details but they will not saved or shared. Again, filling as many details as possible can make your camera easier to search for.
Camera sponsor link: here you can add the web site of the place you are streaming from or a sponsoring web site. You can add the desired link into the description using html tags.
Technical details
*Brand: chose the correct camera model. Selecting one not corresponding will not work. If your camera is not listed, it is not supported yet. Brand cannot be changed later.
*Model: you will be given the option to chose amongst the model supported for the specified camera brand. Using incorrect model does not work.
*Camera URL: specify an address your camera responds at. Use hostname or IP address, ante-pone http:// and post-pone :port-number if you changed it from default.
Example : http://123.12.34.432:6983
Username, Password: here you have to provide credentials to access the camera with administrative privileges. Some parameters can be automatically adapted at first connection. Normally you would want to have only StreamBy accessing your camera, keeping so your camera URL private and optimizing your bandwidth.
Camera channel: you would use this only if you have a camera server to which you connected more cameras. These are specific devices. In most cases you should leave this field empty.
Streaming schedules
You can define 2 periods of streaming a day. As reference use CET time. Do not change it if you want to stream 24h7.
Premium features [these are only available if you are a Premium member]
Privacy settings: select to keep the embed code private and not visible on the camera page. If public other people can use the code to broadcast your stream on other web site. This would increase your camera popularity, but the traffic generated is taken from your account.
Visibility: select this to hide your stream from appearing on StreamBy public list of cameras. You can still use the premium embed code available in the Control Panel.
