Preparation to start streaming
In order to get your live video on StreamBy, all you need is an Internet connection and a supported camera. Axis, Panasonic, and Vivotek cameras are well performing and well supported, but you can get here the full list of models together with the service details and the terms of use.
If you wish, your live video can also be embedded into other web sites by using our embed codes. If you do that for commercial purposes you will be asked to upgrade from Free account to Premium.
Once you got you network camera installed, you have to make sure that it is accessible via the Internet. Normally this requires a port forward to be set up on your modem/router. Unless you get a fixed IP address from your ISP, you would also need to use a DynDns service and make sure it gets updated, either by configuring your modem/router to do so, or eventually your camera if it has such a feature.
Here a brief checklist :
- -do you have an Internet connection?
- -if you don’t have a fixed IP address, does your modem support a DynDns service? If not either choose one that does or make sure your camera does (modern Axis and Panasonic cameras have this feature, many others as well)
- -choose and install the right camera for your needs within the supported models
- -make your camera reachable via the Internet, by configuring the proper port forwarding on the router and activating the Dynamic DNS service if necessary.
- -register your camera on StreamBy.com
- -once your camera is approved you can embed you stream into your web site, if you need
